:: hike to Midnight Hole

Last weekend we took AJ on his first trip to the Smokies. We had planned on the 2-mile hike to Mouse Creek Falls, but after feeling the tone of the crew, we stopped short at Midnight Hole. This is an easy 1.5-mile hike (3 miles round-trip) from the Big Creek Campground and leads to a deep pool below a waterfall. It is uphill the entire hike, but not strenuous…unless you’re carrying a cooler like some folks we saw. It’s a great place for a picnic and a swim, though the most we managed was getting our feet in the water.
